Wiki Loves Earth 2027

Wiki Loves Earth is the annual Wikimedia photography contest for natural heritage and scenic landscapes, organized by Wikimedia chapters and volunteer groups worldwide. Entry is free and every photo must be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons under a free licence. The 2026 international round ran from 1 May to 31 July 2026; its international winners are due on Commons in December 2026. The 2027 edition is expected to open in May, following last year's calendar, with national rounds picking up to 15 winners each and an international jury choosing up to 20 photos in two categories, landscapes and macro. The rules disqualify fully AI-generated photos but tolerate slight AI editing, a ban with a soft edge.

AI policy

If the photo is fully AI-generated, it will surely be disqualified. Please try not to upload such images for the contest. You can upload slightly AI-edited images, but do not overprocess them: this is a photographic contest, not a computer art one.

Editing rules

Wiki Loves Earth is the natural-heritage sister of Wiki Loves Monuments. The international rules disqualify fully AI-generated photographs and tolerate slight AI editing, while warning against overprocessing because the contest sees itself as photographic, not computer art. RAW files are not mentioned. All entries must be self-uploaded to Wikimedia Commons under a free licence, and images below 2 megapixels are not considered for prizes.
