Wiki Loves Africa 2027

Wiki Loves Africa is the Wikimedia photo, video and audio contest run by Wiki In Africa, documenting African life on Wikimedia Commons under a free licence with a new theme each year. The 2026 edition, themed 'Rites & Rituals', accepted uploads from 1 March to 30 April 2026, drew over 46,000 files, and its international winners were announced on 15 August 2026, with Ebrahim Kandel (Egypt) taking first prize in photography for 'Devotion in Prayer'. The 2027 edition has no published theme or dates and is expected to open in March 2027, following last year's calendar. The contest is free. Rule 8 tells participants not to use AI to generate images, and the international jury does not review AI-generated entries.
