Authenticity policy
AI policy
The WPC is a PHOTOGRAPHIC competition, all elements used in images or composited images must be made by the submitting photographer. All images/image elements must be created by the submitting photographer. The use of stock images or image elements created using AI/CGI are not permitted. Image Editing Tools that are based on machine learning to retouch or modify the submitting photographer’s image are allowed when using image elements created by the same photographer. No modification or use of third party images not captured by the submitting photographer is allowed.
RAW files
The WPC Competition committee may at any time (before, during and after the competition) request original files (Raw or JPG that includes original Camera EXIF data) and an explanation of the circumstances under which the image(s) where made to confirm eligibility. After the Judging all Top 15 and Best of Nation images will be required to submit original images (included camera capture EXIF data) to confirm eligibility.
Editing rules
The WPC is the photography industry's team cup: photographers represent their national federations rather than entering individually. Every image element must be made by the submitting photographer; stock images and AI or CGI elements are banned in all categories, while machine-learning retouching tools are allowed on the photographer's own elements. Team captains must keep original unedited RAW files available at all times, the committee may request them before, during or after the competition, and all Top 15 and Best of Nation images must submit originals with camera EXIF data after judging. An image proven to contain AI, CGI or third-party elements is disqualified and its author barred for two years.
