LCE Photographer of the Year 2027

LCE Photographer of the Year is the free competition of the UK camera retailer London Camera Exchange. The 2027 edition opened on 12 October 2026 and closes on 20 January 2027, with the winners announced at The Photography & Video Show in London in March 2027. Fourteen category winners get GBP 500 in vouchers, the overall winner GBP 2,500 more; entry is open worldwide from age 18, but prizes go to UK residents only. The rules bar AI-generated imagery and require every element of a composite to be the entrant's own photograph. Shortlisted entrants must be able to supply the original as a high-resolution JPEG or RAW file, and a separate AI policy covers RAW checks, metadata and forensics.

Editing rules

The competition rules state that AI-generated imagery is not permitted and that images must originate from photographs captured by the entrant, including every photographic element of a composite. Entries are JPEG or PNG files with a longest edge of 2,500 pixels; if shortlisted, entrants must be able to supply the original as a high-resolution JPEG or RAW file. The separate AI-Generated Imagery Verification and Authenticity Policy (PDF, January 2026) describes requests for original RAW or uncompressed camera JPEG files where AI is suspected, EXIF review, forensic assessment, detection tools as supporting evidence only, and decisions on the balance of probabilities with an appeals process.
