CEWE Photo Award 2027

The CEWE Photo Award is the free photo competition of the German photo-service group CEWE and, by entry numbers, one of the largest in the world. The 2027 edition on the theme Our world is beautiful runs until 31 May 2027, takes up to 100 photos per entrant in ten categories plus a Young Talent Award, and has more than 1,000 prizes worth over EUR 250,000. The rules accept only real camera or smartphone photographs: content generated by computer or artificial intelligence is excluded, nothing may be added or removed in post-processing, and the extent of editing must be declared in the caption. Entrants should keep the original file, which CEWE can request to check authenticity.

Editing rules

According to the rules on cewe.de only genuine photographs taken with a camera or smartphone are eligible; exclusively computer-generated or AI-generated content is excluded. Post-processing may not remove or add content and may not fundamentally change the image, and the extent of editing has to be stated in the image description. Entrants should keep every submitted photo as an original file (JPEG, RAW or TIF), which CEWE can request from any entrant for an authenticity check or for high-resolution publication. Uploads are PNG or JPEG of at least 1,080 x 1,080 pixels, one image per file, without collages, frames or text. The start date of the 2027 round is not stated on the cewe.de page.
