Objektiv Pressefotopreis 2028

The Objektiv Pressefotopreis is Austria's press photography prize, run by the professional photographers' guild of the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKÖ). Entry is free, limited to one photo per category and open only to working press photographers. The 2026 edition presented twelve awards in journalistic portrait, culture, sport and daily news at its ceremony on 14 September 2026 in Vienna. The organiser states that the next edition takes place in 2028 for photos taken between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2027; the call is expected in the first half of 2028. The AI rule follows the newsroom line: editing may clean up an image but not change it in substance, and original files can be demanded in cases of doubt.

Authenticity policy

Editing rules

Quoted from the 2026 conditions, the current rules page. They do not name generative AI but permit intelligent editing tools only where the overall image stays essentially unchanged and nothing is added to or removed from what the camera recorded, which rules out generated content in practice; tonal, colour and contrast adjustments are allowed. The organisers reserve the right to request the original capture (RAW file or similar) in cases of doubt, not routinely from finalists. Only working press photographers with eligible employment or a trade licence may enter, with photos published editorially in the eligibility period. Entries go through the platform fotowettbewerb.berufsfotograf.at as JPG, around 30 x 45 cm at 300 ppi, sRGB.
