FEP Awards 2026 - European Professional Photographer of the Year

The FEP Awards is the European trade federation's annual professional photography competition, with the title European Professional Photographer of the Year as the headline prize. The 2026 awards ceremony took place on 25 April in Reykjavik, Iceland. Each category winner receives a Golden Camera Award. FEP's policy treats fully AI-generated work as a separate art form, ineligible for Photographer of the Year but eligible in the Digitally Created Images category.

Authenticity policy

AI policy

Photographs created entirely (100%) using AI - Artificial Intelligence should be entered into the Digitally Created Images category and are not eligible for the selection of the 'Photographer of the Year'. The FEP's position is that AI - Artificial Intelligence was fundamentally an art form, not photography. The title 'Photographer of the Year' can therefore not be assigned as such.

RAW files

If the Competition Chairman or a judge has any doubts as to the authorship of the constituent images, FEP reserves the right to examine the original files used to create the final picture.

Editing rules

FEP treats AI as 'fundamentally an art form, not photography'. Fully AI-generated work must be entered in the Digitally Created Images category and is barred from the Photographer of the Year title. AI may be used to enhance images, but not to add to them. FEP reserves the right to examine original files if authorship is in doubt.
