Deutscher Jugendfotopreis 2028

The Deutscher Jugendfotopreis is Germany's national youth photography award, run by the KJF for entrants up to age 25 living in Germany, with free entry and no RAW requirement. The 2026 cycle closed on 2 February 2026 with 8,304 entries; the 40 winning works were published on 14 August 2026 and are shown at KIT Kunst im Tunnel in Düsseldorf until 15 November 2026. AI-generated images were allowed only in the annual theme category and had to be disclosed with software and prompts; the jury awarded none of them. The next edition is not announced in detail yet: the organizer states that the next call opens in autumn 2027, so entries would close in early 2028.

Editing rules

Open to entrants up to age 25 resident in Germany; entries from hobby photographers, students, trainees and project groups. In the 2025/26 cycle AI-generated images were accepted only in the annual theme category and had to be declared with the software and prompts used; the jury awarded none of them and moved that prize money to work in the other categories. Whether the next call keeps this rule is not yet published. The organizer's site says the next call opens in autumn 2027.
